Our middle layer of the skin maintains the shape of our skin. Stretch marks appear when this middle layer has to stretch itself beyond its limits constantly. This constant pressure on the middle layer of the skin makes it relatively thinner and it loses its elasticity. Connective tissues in this middle layer of the skin also become thinner and body forms a stretch tissue in replacement. A new stretch mark may have various colors. For example, there can be pink, re, brown and purple color of these stretch marks. Moreover, exact color of stretch marks depends on the color tone of the individual. At early stages of this problem, the skin may become think, pink in color and much itchy.
There are many factors that can cause stretch marks on an individual's skin. The most important factor is the drastic change in weight of an individual. If an individual puts on weight really quickly, he or she may suffer from problem of stretch marks. In such a condition, skin will be forced to extend its capacity and bear unusual weight. If there are rapid fluctuations in weight gain and weight loss, it can also lead to stretch marks, as well. Pregnant women usually develop these stretch marks. If a woman is carrying a large baby or there is a large quantity of amniotic fluid, then these stretch marks will be even more prominent. About ninety percent women develop stretch marks during their pregnancy.
Family history of the individual is really important in production of stretch marks. If forefathers or other family members are suffering from this kind of problem, there are greater chances that the individual will also suffer from this problem. The reason is that an individual takes his skin structure in inheritance and this thing can bring him at edge for developing stretch marks. If your skin is having a greater amount of skin pigment, then you are less prone to develop stretch marks. Cushing Syndrome is another factor that can be responsible for stretch marks. This disease enhances the adrenal cortical activity in the body, which leads to excessive amounts of cortical in the blood. This condition leads to stretch marks eventually.
